Characteristics: This exotic and imported hardwood is pale golden brown to pinkish-brown with pronounced dark brown streaks giving the quartered surfaces a zebra-stripe appearance. The grain in interlocked. This wood has a coarse texture and lustrous surface. Zebrawood is heavy, hard and strong. Common Uses: Zebrawood is used for cabinet work - inlay - marquetry - flooring - joinery and turnery. Working Properties: While the wood works easily with hand and power tools, the cutting edges must stay sharp. Gluing is satisfactory and it finishes well once filled. Pre-bore for fasteners. Zebrawood takes an excellent polish and turns well.
